The Garden

Here are a few pics from our spring/summer and winter gardens.  We grow a lot of variety, but you'd be surprised how much you can grow in limited space . . .  even in pots on your deck!  Fresh veggies and herbs are so much better than store-bought.  Give it a try with a few simple necessities, like peppers, squash, tomatoes, and herbs.
Spent the weekend shelling, shucking, snapping, canning and cooking.  I love garden season!

Rye helping grandpa dig taters!
We had a bumper crop of taters this year!
Eggplant Parmesan tonight!

Black-Eyed Peas and Green Beans

Ghost Peppers (hot hot hot!!!)  Very hard to grow, slow to germinate and slow to make peppers.  But well worth the time and effort if you really like hot peppers.  We use them mainly to make hot sauce.  I save seeds, if you want to give them a try!
A few items fresh from the garden, ready to go into our Ratatouille recipe!

Yellow Squash,  Zucchini, Bell Peppers, Cherry Tomatoes, and home grown dill Pickles!
Eggplant - will definitely be posting some Eggplant Parmesan and other recipes this summer!
Roma tomatoes coming . . .
Silver Queen corn is starting to tassle out.

Beans, beans, beans.

Garden helpers.
